Was die Auszeichnung als „Major Player“ im IDC MarketScape für unsere Kunden bedeutet
Published August 7, 2026
Ontinue has been positioned as a Major Player in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide MDR/MXDR for the Enterprise 2026 Vendor Assessment. We’re proud of this recognition, and we want to take a moment to talk about what it actually means, not just for Ontinue, but for the security teams who rely on us every day.
We exist to give every organization the freedom to focus on what they do best, by making nonstop security excellence accessible, not just aspirational. That belief is behind every decision we make about ION, and it’s the lens we read this recognition through. IDC’s MarketScape is one of the most rigorous evaluations in our industry. Analysts assess vendors on real capabilities, delivery models, and customer outcomes, not marketing claims. Landing in this report as a Major Player tells us, and tells the market, that the nonstop SecOps we deliver for organizations running Microsoft security is paying off where it matters most: in production, at scale, for real customers facing real threats.
Why We Were Recognized
We believe what stood out most are the same things our customers tell us matter most day to day.
- An AI SecOps platform with real memory. Most security tools treat every incident as if it’s happening for the first time. The ION SecOps platform doesn’t. It builds and retains an understanding of each customer’s environment, so every investigation benefits from everything that came before it. That’s what we mean by Cybersecurity Memory, and it’s a meaningful departure from how the industry has traditionally approached detection and response.
- Deep integration with the Microsoft security ecosystem. We didn’t bolt Microsoft support onto a generic platform. ION was purpose-built around Defender, Sentinel, and Entra, which means our customers get more context, faster correlation, and better use of the tools they’ve already invested in.
- Hypothesis-driven threat hunting and automated investigation. Our agentic AI doesn’t just flag anomalies. It forms hypotheses, tests them against evidence, and carries investigations forward the way an experienced analyst would, at a speed no human team could match on its own.
IDC’s own words capture why this distinction matters: “The platform captures SOC actions as structured data, feeding a patent-pending Cybersecurity Memory system, enabling AI agents to conduct customer-specific investigations. This positions MDR beyond monitoring toward autonomous investigation with 58% fully automated incident resolution, sub-7-minute mean investigation time, and 55% YoY response time reduction. Ontinue maintains 96% SOC retention, demonstrating production stability.”
It’s easy to talk about what AI could theoretically do for security operations. It’s much harder to prove it’s already doing it, every day, across hundreds of thousands of protected users.
A Key Strength IDC Called Out
IDC specifically highlighted our production-validated agentic automation with balanced governance. In practice, that means our AI agents are doing genuine investigative work, and our customers always know where the human oversight sits. Automation without governance creates new risk. Governance without automation can’t keep pace with today’s threats. We built ION to hold both at once, and IDC’s assessment confirms that balance is working as intended.
Is Ontinue a Good Fit for your Organization?
A few things worth considering if you’re exploring if Ontinue would be a good fit for your organization:
- Microsoft mastery. We’re not a generalist platform with Microsoft support bolted on. ION is built 100% around Defender, Sentinel, and Entra, so if you’re already running Microsoft security, we extend that investment instead of asking you to layer on something new.
- Proactive security maturity. We’re not just watching for the next incident, we’re helping you build toward fewer of them. Your dedicated Cyber Advisor is aligned to your risk profile and maturity stage, providing the kind of regular, risk-based guidance that shifts a team from reacting to threats to systematically reducing them.
- Speed and precision at scale. Our agentic AI investigates tier-2 incidents on its own, resolving the vast majority of alerts without you lifting a finger and cutting mean time to investigate roughly in half. That’s what lets your team stop drowning in noise and start focusing on what actually matters.
- Security that fits and grows. We don’t ask you to log into our world, we show up in yours. Alerts, collaboration, and response happen in Microsoft Teams, on rules of engagement you define, not a generic template. Your Cyber Advisor learns your environment, your team, and your risk tolerance, and gets smarter about all three every week.
If your team is standardized on Microsoft security tools and wants a partner that combines AI-driven speed with real human oversight, rather than a fully automated black box or a fully manual service, this is where we tend to add the most value.

Why This Matters to Us
We didn’t build ION to win awards or earn favorable analyst positioning. We built it because we believe security teams deserve a partner that can genuinely keep pace with how fast threats are evolving, without asking them to sacrifice trust, transparency, or control along the way. Recognition like this from IDC tells us we’re on the right track, and it’s a credit to the engineers, analysts, and advisors who make ION work for customers every single day.
We’re honored to be named a Major Player, and we’re just as motivated to keep earning that position with every investigation we run.
